STEPHANE AS A SIDEMAN: SEVERAL ALBUMS TO BE RELEASED
2016
 

Yes indeed, 2015 was full of recording sessions, this year will see the releases of the last albums of Herrmutt Lobby (electronic), Trovadores (flamenco jazz), Christian Brenner (brasilian band), Stef & the City (standards) and Bai Kamara Jr (soul), the latest in which Stéphane arranged and directed the horn section...very soon in a store near you...

2013-2015
 

Together with his father as a host and a team of producer, writer, scenographer, musicians and comedians, Stéphane created and played in an itinerant tour that was altogether an amazing tour de force: both acclaimed by the press and the audience, the show gathered about 27 000 people in a little more than a year.

AMBASSADOR AROUND THE WORLD: REPRESENTING ADOLPHE SAX, THE CREATOR OF THE SAXOPHONE FOR HIS 200 BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
2014

Stéphane has been not only playing but also gave clinics in numerous countries in 2014, in order to celebrate the Belgian genius Adolphe Sax: Bulgaria, Hungary, Qatar, Kazhakstan, Kirghistan, the USA,...this led him to nurture great relationships with locals and to go back in 2015 to Budapest for more playing and to the University of Lafayette for a special performance and more Master Classes.

 

STEPHANE HAS TAKEN THE LEADERSHIP OF THE JAZZ STATION BIG BAND

Since september 2016, Stéphane has taken the leadership of the Jazz Station Big Band, the house band of the famous jazz club in Brussels: The Jazz Station.

STEPHANE ACCOMPANIES TOOTS THIELEMANS TO MEET  HIS DEAR FRIEND DESMOND TUTU

The retired Anglican South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu was in Brussels this week to celebrate ‘Close The Gap’, an organisation that gives computers a new span of life in Africa. Belgian Jazz legend Toots Thielemans made a rare public appearance.

 

 

 

 

 

PLAYING AND RECORDING IN BRAZIL

The Jurere Jazz Festival has invited the French pianist Christian Brenner and Stéphane Mercier for a double performance with Brenner's local musicians in Florianopolis. The group took the opportunity to record an album in a Brasilian recording studio, to be released in 2016.

Stéphane to reunite with fellow drummer Darren Beckett in the Damon Brown/Stéphane Mercier Quintet
